영어천재, 주식 부자로 가는 중

벌써 3회차네요

HBO 드라마 , 워렌버핏되기 or 워렌버핏이된다는 것의 영어공부 3차 시간이 돌아왔습니다.

워렌버핏은 뛰어난 투자가이자 세계에서 손꼽히는 부자로 이 한편의 동영상을 통해 그에대해 전부다 알 수는 없지만, 적어도 그의 철학관 및 그의 생각이나 사소한 부분도 어느정도 파악할 수 있을 것 입니다.

워렌버핏과의 점심은 매년 수십억에 경매에서 낙찰되기도 하죠. 그런 돈이 없다면 이렇게 영상으로나마 만날 수 있는 것을 좋은 기회라 생각합니다.

Youtube 에서 Becoming Warren Buffett 으로 찾아보시고 동영상은 1:25~28분짜리 찾아보면 됩니다.

그럼 3회차 시작합니다. 오늘은 맥도날드에서 메뉴를 주문하는 워렌버핏의 일상입니다
(아그리고 바빠서 한글 번역번을 못올리고 있는데 시간나는데로 한번에 올리던지 하겠습니다.)

I'm on the way to the office
(출근길 장면입니다.)
It's all of a five-minute drive.

Been doing it.... for 54 years(5분거리의 출퇴근을 54년째..)

One of the good things about this five-minute drive is that on the way, there's a Mc Donald's , so I will pick up something.

Woman speaker : Good morning, thank you for choosing Mc donald's , Go ahead and order whenever you ready.

Buffett :I'll have a Sausage McMuffin with egg and cheese

Woman : anything else?
Buffett : That's it, Thank you

Buffett : Yeah, I  tell my wife as i shave in the morning. I say either $2.65, $2.95, $3.17.
And she puts that amount in a little cup by me here (아침마다 면도하며 부인에게 셋중의 하나의 가격을 말하면, 부인은 해당금액만큼 동전을 컵에 준다는말...)
And that determines which of 3 breakfasts I get.

Man in Mc : How are you doing sir!

Buffett : Great!, you're on candid Camera.

Man : I see, Hello everybody (유쾌하게 넘김)

 Buffett : When I'm not feeling quite so prosperous, I might go with $2.65, which is two sausages patties. (제일 싼 것을 고른다는 말임)
And then I put'em together and pour myself a Coke

여기서부터는 주문한 것을 받는장면
Woman : Good morning How are you

Buffett : hi I've been good. 3.17 is a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit, but the market's down this morning, so I think I'll pass up the 3.17 and go with 2.95.
(3.17을 골라야하지만 시장이 하락세라..더싼걸 시킴)

Prosperous - 뜻: 번영, 번창 이지만
오늘 동영상에서 feeling prosperous의 의미는 '잘풀리고 있다는 느낌이 들다' 의 의미인데, 앞에 not 이 붙었으니 잘 풀리지 않는 느낌이 들 때라는 의미.

Candid Camera : 몰래 카메라,
You're on candid camera , 너 지금 몰래카메라에 찍히고 있어~!
라고 버핏이 말하자, 우리 유쾌한 흑형은 Hello Everybody 로 응수한다.

Put'em = Put them (약어, 다 아시겠지만^^)

OMAHA, Nebraska (워렌버핏의 고향입니다.)

고등학교에 가서 학생들 상대로 강연하는 장면입니다.
70 years ago, I was in high school.
(70년전 고등학생이라니^^;;)
Almost a third as long as the country has been around
And When I was in high school, I really only had two things on my mind.
Girls and Cars (all laugh)
And I was not doing very well with girls, so we'll talk about cars.

But let's just imagine that when we finish, I'm going to let each one of you pick out the car of your choice.

Sounds good, isn't it?
Pick it out any color, you name it.
It will be tied up with a bow. It will be at your house tomorrow.

And you say  "Well, what's the catch?"
And the catch is "that it is the only car you're going to get in your life time."

Now, What are you going to do, knowing that that's the only car and you're ever going to have and you love that car ?

You're going to take care of it, like you cannot believe.

Now what I'd lke to suggest is that you're not going to get only one car in your life time, but you're gonna get one body and one mind, and that's all you're going to get.

And that body and mind feels terrific now, but it has to last youa life time.
